If you’ve recently left — or are trying to leave — a relationship with someone who shows narcissistic patterns, you’re describing one of the most disorienting recoveries there is. The relationship usually leaves people doubting their own memory, questioning their judgement, and struggling to recognise the person they were before it started.
This page is about recovery from that experience. It isn’t about treating narcissism itself — that’s different clinical territory.
Birmingham clients come to me for narcissistic recovery work from a range of situations:
Narcissistic relationships leave specific damage. The damage isn’t random:
The work combines:
Most clients need 8 to 16 sessions. Some longer-standing or more complex situations take more. The work is paced carefully — recovery from narcissistic abuse doesn’t respond to being rushed.
I’m not a trauma psychologist, a domestic abuse specialist, or a couples therapist. If you’re still in the relationship and at risk, please contact specialist domestic abuse support or an appropriate crisis service.
For the recovery work after the relationship, I can be a useful part of the picture, often alongside specialist domestic abuse support or trauma therapy.
Many clients come to me without telling family or remaining friends, particularly in the early phase of leaving. Sessions are fully confidential.

Book a free 30-minute consultation — or call 07825 599 340.No. I’ll listen to what happened and we’ll work on its effects. Labelling the other person isn’t usually what produces recovery.
For ongoing co-parenting situations involving narcissistic dynamics, the work focuses partly on protecting your own nervous system through the necessary continued contact. Birmingham family courts, family law specialists, and local domestic abuse services may also be relevant.
